Materials We Use
The workhorse Titanium, 6AL4V, also known as ASTM Grade 5 Titanium, offers an incredible combination of high strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance, making it a world standard for use in the aerospace industry. For the Saga, every pocket clip is made from this strong and flexible material, allowing a lifetime of use. We also offer the body and tip in this lightweight material as standard, making for the lightest all metal Saga configuration. As a bonus, this material can be electro-anodized to a multitude of colours, as well as being a great substrate for all PVD coatings we offer. We offer this material in a wide variety of finishes and coatings.
One of the earliest discoveries, copper has helped advance civilization for thousands of years. In order to utilise this beautiful red metal material, the copper alloy we use has Tellurium added to improve machinability and surface finish qualities. This allows us to ensure crisp threads and features, and improved strength over pure copper. This material will age over time and patina differently for each user, giving a living finish that changes over time. For this material, we offer satin and tumbled finishes.
A long way from the Bronze Age, the C630 alloy we use is a modern bronze alloy which contains the elements Aluminum and Nickel. These alloying elements significantly increase strength, durability, and corrosion resistance over regular bronze. This material is used in the naval and aerospace industries for its toughness and wear properties. These elevated properties allow us to use this material for our sliders, in addition to the tube and tip. This beautiful material will age and patina differently for each individual user, giving a living finish that will change over time. We offer this material in both satin and tumbled finishes.
Also known as AISI Grade 630, stainless steel alloy 17-4PH is a precipitation hardening stainless steel which has high strength and hardness, combined with good ductility and toughness. It has excellent corrosion resistance, approaching that of stainless steel grade 304. These properties make 17-4PH the perfect material for the Saga mechanism components, and provides a lifetime of durability and smooth use.

The mechanism on the Saga is a masterpiece of engineering and machining. Made in house on our Swiss lathe, this mechanism provides the user with a smooth locking feel, a firm tactile click, and a perfect haptic experience for a lifetime.
